SKIT Trainers

Attention Improv Artists, Actors, or Instructors with personal or professional experience with people with developmental disabilities!

SKIT™(Special Kind of Improvisational Theater) is now offering a Training the Trainers program. (Interview Required)

The SKIT™ program is an Improvisational Theater Techniques – based series of workshops to help teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn to communicate more effectively. The SKIT goal is to assist individuals in the community to have the necessary skills to have a more productive life with meaningful friendships, better relationships, and productive careers.

SKIT programs run in 12 week sessions for 60-90 minutes each. Every week students build, grow, and improve skills as they practice and SKIT techniques taught each week.

Our program’s goals are focused on the individual’s growth rather than training for performances to be delivered for an audience. Anyone with any theater background or with Special Needs Education Credentials or has worked in the disabilities community and has a passion for helping people thrive is a good fit to become a coach.

Training with SKIT™ will allow you to become a SKIT certified instructor with the option to coach your own class. SKIT provides all training materials, class curriculum, program advertisement and on-going mentoring for coaches.

You must be able to commit to 18 hours of conducting a SKIT™ workshop at minimum for 12 weeks (or shorter summer sessions) at a location near you within the first year.

Please contact us here or at jwood@skitprograms.com to discuss.

Subject to Background Check (paid for by SKIT) and successful completion of the training.
